CF Dietician
The CF Dietitians role can be varied and adaptable to your own personal needs. Primarily, our focus is on achieving and maintaining a healthy BMI of between 20-25kg/m2. This BMI and ability to achieve a good nutritional intake has been shown to help improve lung function and overall health in a person with Cystic Fibrosis.
We will review you at least once a year, or more often as required or as requested by yourselves. We aim to educate you on self managing all aspects of dietetic care so you can make successful and appropriate changes to your own dietary management, within a level that you find acceptable.
We can guide you on how best to manage pancreatic enzymes and bowel symptoms. We will monitor your fat soluble vitamins (potential to be lower if you are pancreatic insufficient) and advise of you the best supplementation to improve this. If your weight is lower than you’d like or higher, we can guide you on appropriate nutritional support or weight management programmes available to you.
We will review your progress both as an outpatient and inpatient.
If you have any concerns about your nutritional health, we are here to support and guide. Our email address is CF.DietitiansQEUH@ggc.scot.nhs.uk
